Album Of The Week: 1989 by Ryan Adams

After the Grammys last week and reading about Taylor Swift's speech at the awards show, I decided to check out some of her songs from her latest album 1989. Needless to say I had to ask myself "And she won Album Of The Year Award for that drivel?!" because it was horrible, well between her weak ass voice and insipid lyrics. I was later recommended by a friend to check out Ryan Adams' version of 1989 (which is only available digitally). I must say Ryan Adams definitely made the generally bad music of 1989 sound amazing. Ryan gives the songs life and gives them an emotional quality which they don't have in the original versions. It helps that he can actually sing and doesn't sound like a chipmunk. The lyrics are still awful. Taylor Swift really need to grow as a musician. She can't continue writing music like she is still a teenager or sound like chipmunk either. If anything Ryan Adams should have won the Album Of The Year award at last week's Grammy Awards.
